The Atari ST i bought arrived today. Bought mainly for the nostalgia trip (much like Slicks Amiga) but also cos the bloke was gonna bin it! :o

Needs a bloody good clean and i think the caps lock spring bar is rattling around inside.

His description says "Atari 520 STe with PSU, mouse, joystick. This has a 4Mb upgrade making it better then a STf and the equivalent of a 4160 STe." Means nothing to me...................

Looking to make a VGA cable for it. Thankfully found a site with a tut so that's made it easier! :D

So, what should i be looking to get? Excuse me if i get myself mixed up as i always confuse the Atari and Amiga with each other. Are these games available on the Atari:

Microprose Soccer
Cannon Fodder
Syndicate Wars
Superfrog (i think. If i get this, nostalgia trip win!)

TIA!

Microprose Soccer and Cannon Fodder were both available for the ST. Superfrog was not. As for
other recommendations...Llamatron (1 Meg version) definitely, Interphase, Resolution 101, Time Bandits and Lemmings were all pretty good on the ST. There were a few half decent arcade conversions as well, Star Wars, Super Hang-On, Buggy Boy, Super Sprint, Commando and Bombjack were all pretty good back in the day.

Have a look here: http://www.atari.st/ for games info

I believe there are a few 'Yaaargh' compilation disks floating around from the old days in MSA archives that can be put on disk. Do a search for Pompey Pirates, DBUG, Medway Boys, Flame of Finland, Automation, SuperGau or Vectronix.

Don't get a VGA lead unless you want to play nothing else but monochrome games. Get a SCART lead.

Just sold my original SatanDisk otherwise you could have bought that off me and used the various h/drive game conversions out there in 'download land' on a single SD card instead of swapping disks etc.

If you're just after y'aarggh disks, then I've got a bundle of them that are doing nothing once I've made images of them. They any use?

Will read through replies in a mo. Just trying my luck to see if anyone has a spare rubber top thingy that goes under the buttons on the keyboard? I have one missing.

Any Bitmap Brothers game is ace on Atari ST. Especially with the RAM upgrade.

Look out for Gods, Speedball 2, Magic Pockets, Chaos Engine, Golden Axe, Lure of the Temptress, Leander, Xenon, Ishar, Bloodmoney, SF2 (on 12 floppies!) and Gears of War.

In all honesty, I've never even played on an Atari ST  I like all my mates at school had an Amiga, except one fat kid who had an ST......... needless to say, he had NO friends and had his lunch money beaten from him on a daily basis! :D :D :D

Carrier Command is amazing and really need a multiplayer update for the current gen.

bought? I was giving one away last autumn, I binned it, and gave the games to someone else. :|

Anyway, glad to see we are all still keeping the retro flag flying here. Dunno about the rest of you, I can't be fecked collecting anymore, but I do still like to tinker with old set ups now and again, and can't pass up a cheap / free one I might stumble across.

I only ever collected the stuff I had as I grew up and I've never really been that interested in other retro systems as I don't have any emotional attachment to them if I never used them growing up.
